Satyagraha is the concept of nonviolent resistance. You can read up more about it but what I love about this concept is how I can apply it in my daily life. To me violence/nonviolence is not just about the literal physical manifestation of tension/anger. To me I do myself violence with my own thoughts. That's far worse in my opinion. When I poison myself with negative thoughts, forgetting that I am one with source, that I am fully cared for and provided for - and instead step into fear and remain stuck in my shadow - that's not the man I want to be. Instead when I lean into that fear, shed light on it, laugh at it and acknowledge that it's part of me but I CHOOSE not to operate from that place - that is nonviolence of the self to me.
Gandism Today - there are many living and breathing it all around us. Take a look at Bapu Kuti, a compilation of stories about people and organizations living the Gandian way. Yes, this is also a shameless plug for my sister Rajni Bakshi who wrote this book. Please buy and read the book. It has powerful implications for how we can do economics differently today - and all be prosperous.
I look forward to your comments and stay tuned for more lessons from Gandhi.
